How It All Began
The idea didn’t come from a design studio. It came from a dark staircase.
Our stairs sit between the living room and the bedrooms, and for the longest time, there was no good way to light them at night. Flipping the switch at the top meant a flood of light bright enough to wake the whole house. Skipping the switch meant feeling your way down step by step, hoping you counted right.
Once we started making that trip more often — late-night trips to check on a sleeping kid, early mornings before sunrise — the problem stopped being a minor annoyance and started being something we actually needed to solve. What we wanted wasn’t complicated: a light that turned on by itself the second we stepped onto the stairs, and turned off again once we’d reached the bottom. Nothing to flip. Nothing to remember.
